Bull fighting in Tenerife?

January 31, 2007 on 1:35 am | In Santa Cruz, capital, City, Tenerife | No Comments

Old bull-ring

As many Spanish councils, the Canarian government has banned all forms of fiestas and sporting events involving bulls. So, if you were wondering if it was possible to see a bullfight here, you won’t see one here on Tenerife or any of the other Canary islands.

In the picture, the old bull-ring in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, converted years ago in an open concert hall, is going to be soon demolished. Only two fronts of the ring will remain, and the center of it will be a public park.

Loro Park

Loro Park - Parrot

Loro Park (also known as ‘Loroparque’ in Spanish) is a man-made paradise featuring parrots, killer whales, sea lions, dolphins, penguins, gorillas, chimpanzees, jaguars, tigers, alligators, sharks and many other animals: You will need a full day to enjoy the entire park.

The permanent mild climate in Tenerife allows to easily host these tropical animals.
Located in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife North), Loro Park is home to the world’s largest collection of parrots, an aquarium with a shark tunnel, a planet of penguins, and shows of dolphins, sea lions and parrots which makes it the popular holiday attraction in Tenerife.

In our favorite list of ‘musts’ in Tenerife, Loro Park would be our favorite man-made attraction, and it would be in 2nd position in the overall, after ‘Las Cañadas del Teide‘ national park.

Loro Park is opened the whole year.
