Loro Park - Parrot

Loro Park (also known as ‘Loroparque’ in Spanish) is a man-made paradise featuring parrots, killer whales, sea lions, dolphins, penguins, gorillas, chimpanzees, jaguars, tigers, alligators, sharks and many other animals: You will need a full day to enjoy the entire park.

The permanent mild climate in Tenerife allows to easily host these tropical animals.
Located in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife North), Loro Park is home to the world’s largest collection of parrots, an aquarium with a shark tunnel, a planet of penguins, and shows of dolphins, sea lions and parrots which makes it the popular holiday attraction in Tenerife.

In our favorite list of ‘musts’ in Tenerife, Loro Park would be our favorite man-made attraction, and it would be in 2nd position in the overall, after ‘Las Cañadas del Teide‘ national park.

Loro Park is opened the whole year.

Just a few recommendations related to the weather in Tenerife: As we have so many different microclimates in the Island, it is better to be know in advance a few things:

- Use sunscreen. The easiest way to distinguish a tourist from locals is the colour: Pinks and tanned. If you want to come back with a good colour you may use frequently suncreen, especially in beaches and pools.

- Visiting Teide. If you plan to visit mount Teide, remember it’s about 3718 m (12198 feet): It’s really cold there. No matter how hard you are, shorts and t-shirt won’t be enough.

- Extra clothes. If you travel around the Island, don’t forget to carry a pull-over, the temperature can just drop in a few minutes. In the north side of Tenerife, the area of La Laguna is especially cold.If you want to have a look to the weather in Tenerife over the year (temperature, sun hours, rain fall), just click here.

Tenerife according to Alexander V. Humboldt

Anaga - Tenerife

“From Tacoronte Valley, you enter the wonderful country which travellers from all nations have spoken of with enthusiasm. In the torrid zone I have found places where nature is more majestic, more rich in the development of organic forms; but after being all over Orinoco river sides, Peru Mountains and the beautiful valleys in Mexico, I must confess I have not seen such a varied, attractive and harmonious place because of the distribution of the expanse of vegetables and rocks…”
